Sources say the Senator is planning to run for a seat in the powerful Lower House chamber of the Somali Federal parliament.

The country's PM Mohamed Hussein Roble said the parliamentary election will end by December this year after months of delays in the voting exercise.

This is the second time to arrest Tohow in Galmudug since last month as part of Galmudug's crackdown on the press and the journalists working in the central regions of Somalia.

Galmudug information ministry said that the combined troops are in full control of Guriel, where both sides engaged in heavy battles that left at least 120 people, mostly soldiers dead while hundreds wounded.

Galmudug has been embroiled in wars and internal disputes since its re-establishment in 2014 that making it one of the weakest states in Somalia.

The conflict has forced more than 100,000 people, mostly women and children, to flee from their homes to outside villages, facing severe water shortages and drought conditions. 

According to the statement, the central government in Mogadishu has been urged to stop transporting troops to Galmudug and take part in the bloody battle in Guriel which was under the ASWJ since Oct 1.

Demonstrators have condemned as “unfortunate” the government’s involvement in the conflict after dispatching Turkish-trained troops in Galmudug to take part in the 3rd day of fighting in the central city.

According to UN OCHA, more than 100,000 people fled from the town in the early days of the tension before the offensive began on Saturday.
